Our Story

Hi, I'm Maria — a mother of 7, grandmother of 5, and the heart behind Mending Hearts Embroidery.

My love for handmade crafts began when my children were very young. Quilting became my sanctuary — my quiet "me time" in the middle of a beautifully busy life. The spark that truly started it all was a gift from a dear friend: a simple, homemade sewn creation. I was so moved that she had taken the time to make something just for me. It truly was a gift from the heart.

That feeling never left me. I began sewing gifts for family and friends, and soon wanted to make them even more special by personalizing them. That's when I purchased my first embroidery machine — and everything changed.

Where the Name Comes From

Shortly after, a friend's sister — a young mother of two small children — passed away. I felt called to do something to bring those children comfort. I offered to make each of them a quilt from their mother's clothing. Every quilt square was crafted with appliquéd hearts cut from her shirts and pajamas.

I have always loved hearts, and I have a deep devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and His Mother Mary. That love, that devotion, and those two little quilts — that is how Mending Hearts Embroidery was born.

What We Make

Today, Mending Hearts offers a wide range of handcrafted and custom creations — from memorial quilts and keepsakes that honor loved ones, to joyful gifts and custom embroidery for individuals and businesses. We have also recently begun offering faith-inspired t-shirts. Having worked with so many t-shirts over the years — making t-shirt quilts and seeing how much they mean to people — it felt like a natural and meaningful next step.
